
Established in Chicago, Illinois in 1912, the Dubow Glove Company was a maker of workman’s gloves. As the company grew, they branched out into sporting goods adding baseball gloves and mitts into the product line fold. Dubow’s sporting goods gained popularity and its own division.
During World War II, Dubow contributed to the war effort by making aviator’s leather flight jackets along with supplying baseball gloves for recreation programs. Known today as J.A. Dubrow Mfg., the company still produces the military flight jackets catering to collectors, military reenactors and the fashion industry.
This split-finger Dubow Professional Model 356 features black leather edge binding, a two-tunnel web, is stamped “U.S.” and is dated 12-1945, It also bears an ink-stamped name (Bill Schmidt) on the wrist strap and the palm stall.
