Throughout the 1943 season and well into 1944, Long Beach Army Air Field’s 6th Ferrying Group of the Air Transport Command was a force in Southern California baseball. Facing opponents ranging from regional military clubs to semi-pro industrial league teams up to the Pacific Coast League, the 6th, led by Yankees hurler Charles “Red” Ruffing were the team to beat, though few could.

This 18-page program includes a weekly schedule, player features, scoring grids and of course, countless advertisements. This game between the 6th Ferrying Group and the Hollywood Stars was played at Gilmore Field and the unscored program previously belonged to one of the players on the diamond. Sixth Ferrying Group First baseman Chuck Stevens maintained this and several other programs and scorecards from games he played in during his career both in and out of the U.S. Army Air Forces.

San Bernardino All-Stars:
Aside from a few tears to a few interior pages and wear on the covers, the program is in good condition overall. The two-staple binding is still very strong, lacking any sign of rust on the staples.
