Ball teams from Camp Campbell and Fort Knox in Kentucky; Army Chemical Center, Aberdeen Proving Ground and Fort Geoge G. Meade in Maryland; Camp Lee, Fort Eustis, Fort Monroe and Fort Story, in Virginia; along with New Cumberland General Depot and the host club, Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania.

After four days of round-robin play, five teams: Fort Story, Fort Knox, Fort Meade, New Cumberland, and Army Chemical Center were all eliminated. By Saturday, only Carlisle Barracks and Camp Campbell remained and played in the championship game.

Carlisle batters roughed up Campbell pitching, touching them for 17 base hits but lost the one-run contest, 8-7. Campbell’s eight hits counted the most as they captured the 2nd Army’s title and advanced to the branch’s first-ever All-Army championship, scheduled for mid-September at Fort Benning, Georgia.
