Sixteen months can pass by and when one looks back to reflect upon that stretch of time, many perspectives surface in a matter of moments. When looking at the front door of the Chevrons and Diamonds site, the perspective of an eternity passing by comes to mind as the same article we published in early November 2024 has been sitting on the main page. People who frequent chevronsanddiamonds.org from the front door with any sort of regularity during the last 16 months may have pondered if we were still actively managing the site, let alone alive.

We are, indeed still alive and are actively updating this site. Behind the front door of Chevrons and Diamonds, much has been happening as we continuously curate artifacts and expand the collection with a significant effort expended on research.

For those who follow our Instagram an Facebook page and group accounts, nothing has changed regarding our constant presentations of artifacts and interactions with our audience. We try to share weekly at minimum and sometimes we have content to share daily.

Highlighted changes made to our site:

In the coming week, we will return to publishing stories to the homepage. Leading off, our efforts are focused on one of the central figures of perhaps the biggest bat of the U.S. Army Air Forces’ greatest team, Hickam Field’s 1944 7th Army Air Force.

Future changes coming to chevronsanddiamonds.org include sections dedicated to gloves and mitts; awards, medals, and trophies; and a photo archive. Another area we hope to expand into is to provide an interactive, searchable, and sortable resource for our continuously growing database containing more than 10,000 records of military baseball players and team rosters from the early 1900s to the 1950s.

As it has been since we launched in 2015, our ambitious goal has been to provide researchers, authors, collectors, and enthusiasts with a thoroughly researched and authoritative resource that shines light on the game and its connection to the armed forces. We hope our readers and followers continue to enjoy the work we do and the collection we curate. As always, we remain available to answer your questions and provide feedback regarding your efforts.
