By the mid-1950s, the Navy had closed the gap and trailed the Army by four wins in the series record. Hosting the visiting Midshipmen at Doubleday Field, the Cadets capped off a subpar season by pouncing on Navy pitching for a 5-1 victory in the 47th meeting of the two clubs.
