More than $5,500 was raised at Flint, Michigan’s Atwood Stadium on July 4, 1944 as they defeated the Recreation All-Stars by a score of 11-1. Virgil Trucks faced off against the All-Stars’ Silas Johnson. The Navy scored twice in the first inning and tallied five in the fifth, twice each in the eighth and ninth frames.
